Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD)
WELCOME to Patuxent River Appreciation Days
Columbus Day Weekend 2019
Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD) is a festival, which creates awareness, recognition, and promotion of the economic, social, recreational, cultural and historical impact of the tributaries and environs of the Patuxent River and the basin through which it flows. The festival has been held annually on Columbus Day weekend since 1978.
The festival brings together, and reflects the continuing commitment of the community, Calvert County Commissioners, the Calvert Marine Museum, and other organizations which share a desire to preserve the Patuxent River and to celebrate its positive influence on the area's quality of life, in the past, present and the future.
By bringing these people together in public forum annually, PRAD hopes to continue the interest in the support of the environmental programs and tourism activities surrounding the Patuxent River and its tributaries.
NO ADMISSION FEES, NO PARKING FEES, FREE BOAT RIDES, CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES, AND LIVE MUSIC!

REMEMBER-NON PROFITS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2017 PARADE.
IS YOUR SCHOOL OR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION READY TO PARTICIPATE?
The Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD) is a two-day celebration held annually in Solomons, Maryland. The Calvert County Board of Commissioners, Calvert Marine Museum, Pa-Po-Peake Shrine Club, Arick L Lore Post American Legion and the Calvert County Waterman’s Association are the sponsors of this event. The purpose of this celebration is to promote interest in the Patuxent River for both environmental and cultural awareness.
One highlights of PRAD takes place on Sunday the 9th, in the form of a parade, which steps off at 2:00 p.m. Participants include dignitaries, Shrine Units, the American Legion, local high schools and various other non-profit organizations. Pa-Po-Peake Shrine Club, being the parade organizers, would be honored to have your organization participate in the parade. Your presence would contribute to the parade’s success and add to the enjoyment of those who line the street of this mile-long pageant.
All groups are encouraged to have a float, program, decoration or presentation, as appropriate for the parade theme centered around the Patuxent River and its environment and culture.
Please contact Randy Geck prior to September 2019, regarding your participation in the parade. If you require additional information please feel free to contact me.
