Family Programs & Events

The Calvert Marine Museum is a family museum and every day is an opportunity to create family memories. To take full advantage of our offerings, we encourage you to consider membership in the museum. We offer special programming during all school holidays. Be sure to check out the Calendar of Events for details. 

Public Programming

There is something scheduled almost every day at the museum. There are trained docents in the Discovery Room at the touch tank, in the Skates and Rays exhibit, and in the Paleontology Prep Lab. The Drum Point Lighthouse is open, frequently with guided tours. You can also see the aquarists feeding the animals on the following schedule:

Monday at 10:15 a.m.: Skates and Rays Feeding
Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.: Aquarists Feed the Otter a Snack
Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.: Critter Feeding in the Discovery Room

Scheduled every fourth Saturday from 2 - 4 p.m. we offer Toy Boat Building. See the calendar for details.


Community Outreach Initiative 

CMM is partnering with Yoga with Frannie and EVOLVE Yoga and Wellness to offer YOGA CLASSES at CMM.

Vinyasa style yoga class appropriate for all levels led by certified yoga instructor, Frannie Rosen. Beginners welcome!

Dates & Parking: 

9/12 - Please park in the museum parking lot. Classes will be held on the PNC Waterside Pavilion Stage.

9/19 & 9/26 - Park on Solomons Island Rd., just south of the museum. Classes will be held under the Corbin Pavilion and there is a gate directly in front of the pavilion to enter through. Parking is also available in the museum lot.

Time:  6:00-7:00 p.m.

What to Bring:  Yoga mat, water bottle & hand towel *Class will be held outside, so please dress in light, breathable clothing.

Class Details: This Vinyasa-style class is appropriate for all skill levels, including beginners! *The classes will not be themed as a consecutive series, so please feel free to come to any, or all of the classes!

Cost:  $10 per class (cash or check accepted)

Row and pedal boats

will be available for visitors use in the basin Saturdays and Sundays noon until 4 p.m. through August. Check in with attendant at the floating dock. This activity is free.
